Private Pay at HealWell

We are a private-pay practice, which means we do not bill insurance directly.

We know that can bring up questions, especially if you’ve used insurance for therapy before. It’s completely fair to wonder why—and whether it’s worth it.

Why We Don't Take Insurance

Choosing not to work directly with insurance allows us to keep therapy focused on you—not on a diagnosis, limitations, or outside requirements.

Insurance companies often require a mental health diagnosis, determine how long you can stay in therapy, and may limit the type of care you receive. For some people, that works. For others, it can feel restrictive.

We want your care to be guided by your needs—not by a system.

What This Means For You

Private pay allows for:

  • More flexibility in how we approach your care

  • Greater privacy (no diagnosis required to be shared with insurance)

  • The ability to work at your pace—not a predetermined number of sessions

  • A more personalized experience without outside constraints

In short, it gives us the space to do meaningful work without unnecessary limitations.

Out-Of-Network Benefits

If your insurance plan offers out-of-network benefits, you may still be able to receive partial reimbursement.

We can provide a superbill, which you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Coverage varies by plan, so we recommend calling your provider to ask about your out-of-network mental health benefits.
